Sometimes a single, small swap of an item can make a big difference in a room.

If you’re looking for a change, nothing updates a room like changing the lighting. For a small amount of money you can make a big difference. You’ll find changing just one lamp can make a room.

For instance, look at the lamp by your bed. If it’s too short you probably aren’t enjoying reading in bed. Swap the small lamp for a taller version.

Or how about the lamp with the black shade that you thought would bring drama to your room, but just brought darkness. Swap the dark shade for a lamp with a neutral shade. You might want to try one of the newer barrel shaped shades for a new design. Remember the rules have been broken about matching styles. The rooms of 2012 have an eclectic gathered look, where items blend but don’t strain to match.

Just another touch of British styling from High Point furniture market. This new chest from Steinworld would be the perfect “welcome back” for a family member of mine who is studying in England. If I’m not mistaken, the chest front is filled with names of places near London. (I’ll have to find out if I’m right when they return home…or maybe you know.)

Use of all kinds of script, writing and font styles are continuing to be a strong trend in fabric and furniture alike. Perhaps the beginning of this trend came with collectors who starting using street and subway signs as home decorations.

Similarly, a reproduction city sign from the good ol’ USA is now art work. It’s new from Uttermost.

These exciting new tables from Broyhill landed on the display floor today. It was fun to play around with them and decide where they looked best. They were an amazing accent to several sofas that we already had in the show room.

A special order option for a matching sofa might be the “Jevin” from Broyhill. I’ll keep that sofa in mind also.

I like the way the straight lines of all of the pieces work together, while the chrome on the tables add a punch of curved shine.
